If you simply visit. Standard technical information collected by the platform this site runs on, including IP address, browser type, device type, referring page, and pages viewed. This is used to understand aggregate traffic. I do not use it to identify individual visitors.
Why I collect it, and on what basis

Technical visit data is used to understand how the site is used. The basis is legitimate interest in operating and improving the site.
Who processes it
This site is hosted by Squarespace, which processes technical visit data and operates the site's forms. Email distribution is handled by Substack. Both are independent companies with their own privacy policies. Neither is authorized to use your information for their own marketing on my behalf.

Cookies
This site uses cookies set by Squarespace to operate the site and to measure aggregate traffic. Where required, you will be asked to consent before non-essential cookies are set. You can also block or delete cookies through your browser, though parts of the site may not work correctly if you do.
How long I keep it
Email addresses are kept until you unsubscribe, and are removed from active lists promptly after that. Correspondence is kept only as long as needed to deal with the matter it concerns. Technical visit data is retained according to the platform's own retention period.

Residents of California have the right to know what is collected, to request deletion, and to opt out of any sale or sharing of personal information. I do not sell or share personal information, so no opt-out is required, but the right stands.
